True, but these students don't understand the "MATH" of mortgages. Most kids I see taking the loans can't understand that their post-grad salaries, after rent and food, may not be enough to pay back the loan at $250 a month.

These people taking out these loans understand they have to pay back the 100k, trust me, but the problem is these private lenders "green lighting" private loans for students with bad credit hence the high interest rate for a 100k loan. 18% is unbearable for the majority of students wanting a higher education.

Who forces students to take out big loans?Taking out a $40,000 30-year loan at 4% interest to go to community college makes sense.Taking out $100K or more in loans to go to a big-name college and party around DOESN'T make sense.I always advise HS students; if you have to take out a loan, go to community or state college. Take out as little as you can. 100K in student loans is a trap, no matter how you look at it.

ACS, the broker in between the lenders and the schools, is a middle-man corporation that gets a cut of YOUR FUCKING LIFE and makes it's profits off of doing nothing but constantly black-mailing you with default. The system is a joke. There is a reason why the rest of the world laughs at the way we pay for college.

There is a place where you're protected against student loan debt: Outside the United States. I've had to work overseas for the past five years.

Corporations don't earn any of this wealth.. 17% interest rate? Are you kidding me? That is extortion, they practically have you at gunpoint to pay exponentially more than you owe. Bunch of thugs. |
