Vietnam War through The Things They Carried

PLEASE READ BEFORE COMMENTING!A video presentation by Weinlein and Dwyer that investigates Tim O'Brien's perspective of the Vietnam War through his work, The Things They Carried. Submitted for Mr. Mody's American Experience class at Burnt Hills HS. Please keep in mind that despite some of the content and parts the lyrics, this site (and all those connected to my account) is intended for use by primarily high school students. This means I will not approve comments with vulgarity or with questionable, derogatory, or inflammatory content. I do understand that this may come off as hypocritical as there is some vulgarity in the song itself. You are free to comment on whether or not you like/agree with the video and/or the novel it is attempting to summarize. Criticism is fair game in my eyes, as long as it is insightful and in good taste. The song is "This is War" by Smile Empty Soul.

There is no Justice and nobody serves Justicewhether it is war or no war.

The next war will be fought on your streets.. You will see firsthand the same things you have seen wrought on other countries. When the global agenda decides it's time for me and you to die, we will die. Some of us will choose to die fighting; YES for an ideal, YES for a nation of spoiled people, YES for a nation that in its ignorance has allowed the enemy to take over its seat of power. Your parents voted this ignorance in and someday Americans will have to struggle to survive. Again. Peace

I watched your video and it broke my heart. That is what I hope it does for everyone who watches it. When we see these images we need to feel the pain that is so evident in peoples faces in these pictures. If we ever become numb to these images we are truely lost as a civilization. I know my tears will never be enough to wash away all this pain but I add my tears to all the rest and perhaps we will someday be clean. I write this in memory of my uncle, James Gaddy, a Vietnam vet.

do research about crimes of communism from soviets to china, VN, N korea and Cambodia. You will be surprised that the "bloodiest" US presidents are still ten times better than the "nicest" commie leaders you like. If you don't believe me just spend a day to learn first before fuming the nonsense. Best if you move to cuba or N korea to live for a month

My God!WHY?Why are there men who would BLINDLY kill and be killed just because they should obey their insane president? That same president who entered this war after faking an attack on an american ship just to multiply the number of soldiers who'd go to war, "in order to defend their country". 9/11: same scenario. Those are all fake attacks. (" It was a faked attack on the americanship heading to North Vietnam", Samuel Halpern- Secret Operations, CIA when Lyndon Johnson was president.

you and most probably did. but it can't be ignored that our country did the samething. I'm not the type to say 100% of the people we sent were terrible but i'm not the type to say everything we did was goodMost vets I talk to just get angry when I be reasonable about it. just once I want one to say yes, some things went on that weren't right. but you sound like you;d have a reasonable view on it, since you didn't totally flame that particular slide.
