Yes if Xana dies so does Aelita but not the other way around. And because Xana needs her memory it can't let her die. That's why it saes her in Marabounta.

yeah, its explained better earlier on in the series, but, when jeremie materialised aelita, xana gave her a virus that connected her to the computer, so if the super-calculator as they call it goes offline, so does aelita
