It's no secret that herbal teas have medicinal benefits. We have been using them centuries for all kinds of health complaints. Best of all they are cheap, readily available and easy to use.

These are my favourite ones to drink while you transition into menopause.

SAGE

Sage is the number ONE herb of choice for the menopausal transition.

It is specific for excess sweating and can reduce the frequency, duration and intensity of hot flushes and night sweats.

As the name suggests, sage is also for wisdom. It can help improve cognition and memory.

It enhances mood by calming the mind and increasing alertness.

MARJORAM

Otherwise known as the joy of the mountain, Marjoram promotes a positive outlook and helps to lift the soul.

It may enhance your sleep.

It has been known to relieve headaches.

Don't forget to smell your tea.  Marjoram is a decongestant and may open up your sinuses.

ANISEED

Aniseed is a key digestive herb.

While also helping to clear the respiratory system.

It is recommended for the menopausal transition as it is a hormone regulator. By promoting estrogenic activity, it reduces hot flushes and increases libido.

Aniseed is also very calming and nurturing.

ZIZYPHUS

Zizyphus is Chinese red date. It can be eaten as a snack or added to your tea to enhance the flavour and add to the medicinal content.

It has a reputation as being one of the best herbs for a busy mind. It reduces cyclic thought, calms the entire body, and eases anxiety.

Having a calmer mind makes it easier to sleep at night. Plus it may reduce the frequency and intensity of night sweats.

It has also been linked to a reduction in cardiac symptoms such as high blood pressure, palpitations, racing heartbeat, and angina.
